IQE`s Drew Nelson awarded for lifetime achievement
The CEO of IQE has been acknowledged for his contributions to the semiconductor industry at Elektra 2013
IQE plc.'s CEO Drew Nelson has been presented with a 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the 2013 Elektra European Electronics Industry Awards.
The award is in recognition of Nelson’s contribution to the electronics and semiconductor industries and was presented at a gala ceremony in London, UK on 27th November 2013.
Accepting the award, Nelson said, “I am deeply honoured to receive this award and delighted and proud to have been involved is such a fast paced global industry that has had a major impact on the way we live, work, play and communicate. I am confident that we are on the verge of a new wave of revolutionary technologies that will be enabled by advanced semiconductors and electronic designs.”
Now in its eleventh year, the Elektra Awards give the industry the opportunity to recognise the achievements of individuals and companies across Europe.
Nelson cofounded IQE in 1988 and took the reins after the burst of the dot.com bubble and restructured the company to ensure its survival.
The company works in many different sectors of the semiconductor industry including solar, telecoms, LEDs, lasers. IQE's full range of materials systems is shown below.
The firm uses MOCVD, MBE and CVD epitaxial growth techniques.
Nelson has chaired the 2011, 2012 and 2013 Compound Semiconductor conferences events and is set to chair the 2014 event which will take place on 18th and 19th March 2014 in Hamburg, Germany.

IQE is a global supplier of advanced semiconductor wafers with products that cover a diverse range of applications including LEDs, lasers, solar and telecoms.
